8bit Cloud sync
Keep editable Projects on this device by default, then opt individual Projects into 8bit Cloud when you want them across devices.
Local vs Cloud vs Export vs Publish
- Local autosave stores the editable Project in this browser on this device. It works without an account.
- 8bit Cloud syncs an editable Project to your signed-in account when you enable it for that Project.
- Save editable .8bit downloads a portable Project file you can store offline or move elsewhere.
- Export downloads a finished image, animation, sprite sheet, or video. It does not upload anything.
- Publish uploads rendered Artwork and creates an Artwork page. It does not upload or back up the editable Project.
Enable Cloud sync
- Sign in to your 8bit.page account.
- Open Your cartridge box from the editor brand mark or File menu.
- Choose Save to Cloud for a device-only Project, or enable Cloud sync from the editor save-status control.
Local autosave still happens first. Cloud sync uploads a versioned editable snapshot after that, when the service and network are available.
Sync modes
From the editor Cloud status control, choose how queued changes upload:
- Automatic — sync after a short quiet period, or after continuous editing reaches a maximum wait.
- Delayed — wait longer between quiet edits before uploading.
- Manual — keep changes queued until you choose Sync now.
You can pause Cloud sync without losing the Cloud association. Resume reconciles both sides; if this device and Cloud both changed, 8bit.page may keep one copy as a separate conflict Project.
Versions and recovery
The current Cloud version is always retained. An account-wide setting keeps a limited number of previous successful versions for up to seven days. From Your cartridge box you can restore a retained version as a new current revision, delete non-current versions, or permanently delete a Cloud Project.
Permanent Cloud deletion leaves any browser copy local-only. Cloud sync is durable Project sync with version history, not real-time collaboration.
Storage
Retained Cloud Project versions share your online storage allowance with private-link Artwork. Public Artwork is tracked separately and does not use that allowance. Local browser Projects do not use online storage.
If Cloud storage fills, manage retained versions or private Artwork, then retry. Download an editable .8bit file when you want a portable offline copy.
