Terms of Service

Last updated: 21 July 2026

These terms apply when you use the 8bit.page editor, publish Artwork, comment, play challenges or puzzles, or otherwise use the service. By using 8bit.page, you agree to these terms.

Using 8bit.page

You may use the editor without creating an account. You are responsible for how you use the service and for content you create, publish, or submit.

You must be legally able to agree to these terms. If you are not old enough to agree on your own, a parent or legal guardian must agree for you.

Local Projects and exports

Projects autosave in browser storage on your current device. Signed-in users may opt individual Projects into 8bit Cloud for account-backed sync and version history. Clearing browser data or losing access to the device can still remove local-only work that has not been synced. You can also download an editable .8bit file when you want a portable copy outside the browser.

Export creates a file on your device. Exporting does not publish or upload your Project.

Cloud sync and storage

8bit Cloud stores editable Projects for signed-in users who opt them in. Changes save locally first and sync as versioned snapshots when the service and network are available, so you can move between devices and restore retained versions from Your cartridge box. Cloud sync is not real-time collaboration. If two devices edit the same revision, 8bit.page may preserve one as a separate conflict copy. You can restore retained versions or permanently delete a Cloud Project from Your cartridge box.

Cloud Project versions share your account's online storage allowance with private-link Artwork. Public Artwork is tracked separately and does not use that allowance. The current Project version and a limited recent recovery history count toward the allowance. You are responsible for keeping enough storage available for the Projects you sync.

Publishing Artwork

Publishing is a separate, deliberate action. It uploads a rendered Artwork together with the title, description, and settings you choose. It does not upload your editable Project.

Public Artwork may appear in public discovery and search results. Private-link Artwork is unlisted, but anyone with its link can view it. A private link is not a password or a guarantee that the recipient will not share it.

Ownership and permissions

You retain ownership of everything you create and publish on 8bit.page.

When you publish Artwork, you give 8bit.page the limited permissions needed to save, host, display, resize, and share it through the service. These permissions are only for operating and providing 8bit.page and end when the Artwork is removed, except where copies must be retained for legal, safety, or technical reasons.

8bit.page does not claim ownership of your Artwork, sell it, or grant commercial rights to it on your behalf.

If you enable downloads, visitors may save a copy of the Artwork. Enabling downloads does not transfer your ownership or itself give a visitor rights to use the Artwork commercially.

AI policy

8bit.page does not use your Artwork to train AI models.

Play, progression, and rankings

Daily Draw, Pixel Trials, and other Play features are subject to the challenge or puzzle rules shown in the product. We may reject, hide, remove, or recalculate entries, votes, XP, levels, achievements, awards, and rankings when needed to enforce these terms, correct errors, or respond to moderation.

XP, levels, achievements, awards, and leaderboard standing have no cash value and do not unlock paid features. Guest and signed-in play may differ: only qualifying signed-in activity earns progression. Leaderboards and season results are provided as available and are not guaranteed to remain unchanged forever.

Your content and conduct

You must have the rights and permissions needed for anything you publish or submit. Do not use 8bit.page to:

  • break the law or infringe intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights;
  • publish sexual exploitation or abuse material, particularly content involving children;
  • threaten, harass, exploit, or promote hatred or violence against others;
  • expose another person's private or identifying information;
  • distribute malware, phishing, scams, spam, or deceptive content; or
  • interfere with, probe, overload, or bypass the security of the service.

These rules also apply to descriptions, comments, attachments, links, reports, support messages, and Play submissions.

Moderation and reports

We may restrict, remove, or preserve content, disable features, or limit access when reasonably necessary to enforce these terms, protect people or the service, investigate a report, or comply with law. We may report content or activity to the appropriate authorities when required or when there is a serious safety risk.

You can report Artwork or Play submissions through the report form. Reporting does not guarantee removal, but reports will be reviewed in context.

Expiry and deletion

Private-link Artwork expires according to the period selected when it is published. Public Artwork may remain available until it is deleted or removed. Where owner controls are available, the recognised publisher can delete Artwork from its Artwork page.

Deletion may not immediately remove temporary caches or restricted backup copies, and it cannot remove copies already saved or shared by other people. Retained copies will only be kept where needed for recovery, security, safety, or legal obligations.

Third-party content and services

Artwork, descriptions, and comments may link to content outside 8bit.page. Optional features such as GIF search and security checks may also rely on third-party services. Their content and services are governed by their own terms, and 8bit.page is not responsible for external sites or services.

Service availability

We may change, suspend, or discontinue features to maintain, secure, or improve 8bit.page. The service is provided as available, and uninterrupted access or permanent storage is not guaranteed. 8bit.page is not a backup service.

Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded. To the extent the law allows, 8bit.page is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, or loss caused by content submitted by other users, third-party services, or events outside our reasonable control.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service changes. The date at the top will show when they were last revised. If a change materially affects your rights, we will take reasonable steps to make it clear.
