Privacy Policy

Last updated: 15 July 2026

This policy explains what information 8bit.page handles, why it is used, and the choices available to you.

Local Projects

Your editable Projects, thumbnails, and editor preferences are stored locally in your browser on the device you use. 8bit.page does not receive that local Project data unless you separately choose to publish content or send it to us through another feature.

Exporting creates a file on your device. Publishing sends a rendered Artwork, not the editable Project. You can remove local Project data from the editor or by clearing site data in your browser.

Information handled by the service

Depending on how you use 8bit.page, we may handle:

  • published Artwork and the title, description, visibility, expiry, comments, download, and view settings you select;
  • comments and attachments you submit on Artwork pages;
  • email addresses, message contents, links, and other details submitted through contact and report forms;
  • a browser or session identifier used to recognise your browser and provide service features;
  • technical request information such as IP address, approximate country, browser and device details, referring page, request time, and security events; and
  • Artwork page view counts where the publisher has enabled them.

Please do not include sensitive personal information in Artwork, descriptions, comments, or messages unless it is necessary.

How information is used

We use this information to provide publishing, sharing, comments, view counts, support, and reporting; maintain sessions and recognise publishers; process and deliver media; prevent abuse and protect the service; respond to requests; comply with legal obligations; and understand and fix service problems.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your Artwork to train AI models.

Public and private-link Artwork

Public Artwork, its title and description, and enabled comments can be viewed by anyone and may appear in discovery or search results. Private-link Artwork is unlisted, but anyone who has the link can access it. Do not publish information you do not want the relevant audience to see.

Cookies and browser storage

8bit.page uses browser storage for local Projects and preferences. It also uses identifiers in cookies or similar storage where needed to maintain a session, recognise a browser or publisher, secure the service, and provide requested features. These are functional technologies rather than advertising cookies.

You can clear cookies and site data in your browser. Doing so may remove local Projects and preferences, sign you out, or prevent 8bit.page from recognising you as the publisher of Artwork.

Service providers

We use service providers to host and deliver 8bit.page, store and process published media, secure the service, and receive support and abuse reports. They process information only to provide those services under their own obligations to us.

Optional GIF search may send a search term and GIF selection to the GIF provider. Security checks may send technical request information to the security provider to distinguish people from automated abuse. Links or embedded content from other sites are governed by those sites' privacy policies.

Sharing and legal disclosures

Information may be shared with service providers as described above, when you choose to make content available, when needed to investigate abuse or protect people and the service, when required by law or valid legal process, or as part of a business reorganisation where appropriate safeguards apply.

Retention

Local Projects remain in your browser until you delete them or clear site data. Private-link Artwork is scheduled to expire according to the period selected at publication. Public Artwork may remain until it is deleted or removed.

Comments, reports, support requests, security records, and limited backups are kept only for as long as reasonably needed for their purpose, dispute handling, safety, security, and legal obligations. Cached and backup copies may take additional time to disappear after deletion.

Your choices and rights

You can choose whether to publish, whether an Artwork page is public or private-link, whether comments and downloads are enabled, whether view counts are recorded and displayed, and when supported, delete published Artwork. You can also delete local Projects from the editor.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the use of your personal information, or to receive a portable copy. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

To make a privacy request, use the contact form. We may need information to verify the request and identify the relevant records.

Children

8bit.page is not directed to children who are too young to consent to the handling of their personal information under applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information improperly, contact us so we can review it.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so keep private links controlled and avoid submitting information that is not needed.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service changes. The date at the top will show when it was last revised. If a change materially affects your privacy rights, we will take reasonable steps to make it clear.
